The newly released entry to the legacy franchise, Pokemon Sword and Shield provides fans of the series a new region to explore alongside new and fan-favorite Pokemon. The game introduces the Europeanesque Galar region alongside a new transformation for all Pokemon and some creative and interesting Gym Leaders. Alongside the multitude of new characters, Pokemon and locations, Sword and Shield have introduced new mechanics and concepts to the tried and true formula of Pokemon. The biggest change is the expansive Wild Area and the inclusion of raid style den battles. Alongside these den battles, Sword and Shield introduced experience point candy as a reward for completing the powerful boss battles.
These experiences candies make the process of leveling up your Pokemon party a breeze compared to other entries in the franchise. As mentioned these candies are rewards for defeating the large den Pokemon battles and encourage wild area exploration. So the question arises, what’s the best way to stock up on these experience candies? This guide will explain a particular method use to farm exp candies. By using the advice given in this guide players will be met with an abundance of candies.
How to Farm Exp Candies in Pokemon Sword and Shield
The following method is the fastest and easiest way to get the most amount of exp candies in Sword and Shield. However, this method does require that players have beaten the game, but some of the same concepts can be applied to players still progressing through the story.
To successfully utilize this method players first need to purchase a wishing piece. This item can be purchased from the Wild Area specifically beside the daycare center. After purchasing the wishing piece head to the Bridge Field area and go towards the Den area encircled by trees.
Once at this particular den save before dropping the wishing piece in the den. This will be important for the following method. After saving be sure to interact with the den, it will prompt players to drop the wishing piece in the den. After dropping the wishing piece the game will ask players if they wish to save before tackling the raid boss. Press yes and as soon as you press yes you will be able to see either a Red beam of light or a Purple beam of light. As soon as you press “yes” press the home button on your switch. This will give enough time to see whether the beam of light is red or purple.
A player will want to face a purple light Pokemon as they drop the most amount of rarer exp candies. Simply rinse and repeat this method until you have enough exp candies to level up your desired Pokemon.
