Much has changed in the Gen IV remakes, including how you access and use Hidden Moves. Here’s where to find Waterfall and whether it’s worth teaching your Pokemon.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Waterfall Location

Waterfall is TM99, and similar to Rock Smash, you first obtain it as a gift. You’ll find Jasmine, the Steel-type Gym leader from Johto, near Sunnyshore’s lighthouse.

Speak with her after you defeat Volkner, Sunnyshore’s leader, and she’ll give you a handful of TM99s containing Waterfall. You can also purchase additional TM 99 from the Underground Seller and at the Battle Park, should you need them.

If you speak with her before getting Sunnyshore’s badge, she won’t have anything for you. And that’s fine. You can’t use Waterfall outside of battle until you beat Volkner anyway.

As with BDSP’s other HMs, you don’t have to teach your Pokemon Waterfall to use it outside battle. Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl let you use the Pokemon Watch to summon a lone Bidoof or Bibarel who knows every HM.

Is Waterfall Worth It in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl?

Yes, especially if you picked Piplup or have a physical Water type such as Floatzel or Gyrados. Waterfall is a decently-powerful physical Water attack, and it also has a small chance of making the user flinch.

That matters less with Empoleon, who’s slower than your average Water type, but Floatzel and Gyrados can make good use of that flinch potential.
